Maple Leaf Coasters

A quick and easy project to add a handmade touch to the Thanksgiving table.

Supplies (for 4 coasters):

  • wool felt scraps in fall colors
  • interfacing
  • contrasting thread
  1. Cut out 8 maple leaf shapes according to template: maple-leaf-coasters
  2. Cut 4 pieces of interfacing in a smaller size (if using fusible, iron interfacing onto the back of a leaf).
  3. Stack two contrasting colors of felt leaves together (slightly overlapping) and sew leaf veins by hand or machine.

Done!

Felt Acorns

Here are some little needle felted acorns that I made.  I first saw this idea over at Betz White and have since seen lots on Etsy.  I had trouble getting the tips to be properly pointed, but these will likely just be tossed around our house anyway.  Maybe we’ll come up with an acorn game.  I collected a large bag of acorns and acorn tops in North Carolina a few weeks ago, so you might be seeing more acorn projects later this week.

Quilt Contest Winners

Check out the winners from the baby quilt contest at Make Baby Stuff.  There were some great entries and I was thrilled to be a judge.  Take a look for some quilty inspiration.  The winning entry (pictured above) is called Counting Sheep, made by Gina from Kansas.  I love the sweet little embroidered sheep.
