Follow Along

It’s getting hard to track all of the social networking sites these days, isn’t it? And hard to be disciplined enough to avoid constant distraction. Here are some housekeeping notes if you want to keep up with The Long Thread in other places:

I have created a new facebook page for The Long Thread (due to the facebook changes to groups), so if you’re interested in receiving updates through facebook, you’ll need to click here and “like” the page, as I have dissolved the former group. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Also, if you haven’t joined Pinterest, I highly recommend it. You simply add images of things you like, categorize them and share with others. It’s a great way to find, share and keep track of all the inspiration we find online. I get a bit frustrated when I can’t find the original source of an image, but overall I think it’s a great resource. You can follow me on Pinterest by clicking here.

And if you’re not on Twitter, you can join up and follow me over there too.

In addition, I’ve set up two Flickr groups — one for general photos of projects that you’d like to share and one for projects that you’ve made from 1, 2, 3 Sew. So please do share. I love to see what you’re making!

I’m sure I’ll get the hang of Google + soon too and start some sort of group there as well, but this seems like enough for now.

Craft Night at Etsy Labs

Live in New York? Head on over to Etsy on Monday, August 1 and see me! I’m excited to be doing a Craft Night at Etsy Labs. You can learn to make this mouse pincushion! This little mousie is just like the one in the book, except we’ll be using felt for the ears to make it in a snap. All supplies included and this is a free event with with limited admission. Reserve your spot here.

Don’t live in New York? You can watch a video demonstration of the project on Etsy — I’ll post a link when it’s available.

See the little gal in action in my book trailer here:

True Up & Bolt Neighborhood

Today 1, 2, 3 Sew is making the final blog tour stops over at True Up and Bolt Neighborhood.

If you love fabric as I do, then you are no doubt familiar with Kim Kight’s blog, True Up. Today she asked about my Fabric Fives, so you can see the fabrics I love and those I use often. Kim also talks a bit about my next project — a fabric collection!

In addition to giving birth to an adorable baby boy this week (Congratulations!), Kim has just finished a book called A Field Guide to Fabric Design that will be out this fall. Looks like a great book for aspiring fabric designers as well as those who just want to make their own unique creations.

And Bolt Neighborhood is also part of the blog tour today with a pattern review and book giveaway! Bolt is a great fabric store in Portland that I so hope to visit someday. Melissa has whipped up the Tiered Bag project from the book using a beautiful silk fabric. Go check it out!

Thanks to all of the wonderful sites who have hosted the blog tour over the past two weeks! If you missed a stop on the tour, be sure to check out the full list below.

Pixel Painting Tote Bag

Head over to Alpha Mom and check out my tutorial for this pixel painting project that I did with my 6-year-old. Here I made a tote bag (front and back views above), but you could paint pixels on pretty much any surface.
