Princess Leia Necklace

Just trying to keep the troops entertained around here.  Perhaps this was a bad parenting decision, but we’ve been letting the girls watch Star Wars.  I feel sorry for my husband being surrounding by females (even the cat).  I do worry about the violence in the movie, but I think it’s one of those “I did it when I was a kid and turned out fine” things.  Of course, we also rode in the back of station wagons with no seat belts.  Whatever.  So today we made a “Princess Leia Necklace” with tin foil, string and glue.  See, like this one:

  1. My husband can’t wait until our daughters (2 and 4) are old enough to watch Star Wars! At the moment they watch him play the Star Wars Lego game on the computer and it’s cute hearing my 2 year old chat about Yoda and Arty Deety (R2 D2)!

  2. Oh, I am so pleased to know that someone else’s girls are watching Star Wars. My girls are too little to watch it all but we have let them watch different scenes. We also have the Wii game Lego Star Wars, which is quite acurate but not so scary since it’s lego people :o) I love the Leia necklace…I’m all over that! Thanks for sharing.

  3. My husband bought a boxed set of Star Wars for our bub before I was even pregnant. Having a little girl didn’t make any difference (thank goodness actually) – at 2yo she already has a Darth Vader scrapbook to draw in and can look forward to many years of happiness playing with her Star Wars miniatures…I’m loving the necklace big time.

  4. My husband let my kids watch it at an early age and now it’s one of their favourites. Considering that my son was freaked out by the Blue Man Group adverts, I thought Star Wars would be a really bad idea, but he took all the funny looking aliens in his stride…

  5. My 9 year old daughter has loved Star Wars since she was a wee little thing! I never noticed the necklace before, but that is because only one outfit comes to mind when it comes to Leia!

Thanks for sharing all your wonderful crafts and finds!

  6. Thanks for the comment on my Yoda Hat. I love this necklace! Maybe someday I’ll have a girl 🙂 Also, my toddler boys also play Lego Star Wars, and have a Star Wars Mr. Potato Head. Not sure when a good age to introduce the actual movies is – probably wait a couple years, since the oldest is 3.
