Inspiration

framework

This is a little baby quilt made from the double gauze cotton in my upcoming collection for Kokka, Framework. I won’t be at Quilt Market, but I’m sewing a few things and also have some very nice volunteers who are helping me.

I thought I’d share a few links to get you inspired today.

I’m a big fan of Mollie Makes magazine and was so excited to hear about the new U.S. edition of the magazine! I love the handmade, sweet style of this magazine. The first issue is on newsstands today and you can subscribe to the print or digital edition here. You can see my Garden collection fabric featured in the issue sampler and you’ll see one of my projects from 1, 2, 3 Quilt featured in the next issue.

This Book Was a Tree

Today I’m part of the blog tour for This Book Was a Tree: Ideas, Adventures, and Inspiration for Rediscovering the Natural World by Marcie Cuff of the blog Mossy. This clever book offers ideas and projects to get away from technology and get back to nature. You can make a terrarium, sundial, journal, natural bug repellent, bird nesting ball, and garden projects. I look forward to trying the pinhole camera project with the kids soon.

The book includes space for you to add your own thoughts, ideas and reflections throughout the process, along with charming illustrations and detailed instructions. I think this would be a good book for homeschooling parents because it adds great ideas along with information and activities. It reminds me that I do need to get away from this computer and get out into nature more often!

Double Diamond Quilt Block

Today I’m excited to be participating in Patchwork Posse’s Around the Block Round Robin of quilt block designs. My block, pictured above, is called Double Diamond. I’ve made the block here in my Garden collection fabrics and solids. Below, you can see what a full quilt might look like. You can also see how some simple changes to the layout would create different designs.
