Ribbon-Trimmed Pants

This was my first go at making pants. Some linen/cotton blend capri pants for my three-year-old trimmed with vintage ribbon. I started with a pattern but pretty much scrapped it altogether. My kids have trouble keeping their pants up and the back of the pants really doesn’t require any more room than the front! This made it easier as I just cut four pieces exactly alike. Other than sewing the legs together and running out of trim (thus narrowing the pant legs), I think it went pretty well. If my frilly girls will wear pants, then I will make some more.

One more cupcake

Last cupcake for a while, I promise. I just found this incredible Cupcake Bakeshop blog. Just what I needed. I used the devil’s food recipe for these and topped with buttercream coconut frosting. I think I need to go visit the treadmill blog now!

The Creative Family

The Creative Family: How to Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections by Amanda Soule.

It’s been a busy week around here with Spring Break and no vacation. But I did manage to actually buy this book and browse through it. Full of projects and inspiration, I’d recommend it for any family who wants to raise creative children. Really, the subtitle pretty much expresses my two main goals for our family. Patchwork Flower

Here’s a quick little patchwork flower that you could use in a kid’s room or on a windowsill. I think a series of three in terra cotta pots would be sweet (like these I posted about a while ago). My kids are using this one as a magic wand.

More Baby Blocks

One of my first blog posts was about some baby blocks that I made our goddaughter. I made some more and am now offering them for sale in my Etsy shop. I didn’t create a tutorial for these, but I have looked over this one from London Mummy and it’s basically how I made mine. You could appliqué or hand embroider the letters.
