House Ornaments

I made these little house ornaments the other night.  I used the template from Orange Flower, but ended up changing the shape a bit as I made more.  Still don’t have one that’s just right. So I’ll be making more!  I think they would be nice in all white too.  There are lots of house ornaments available on Etsy too (see yesterday’s post).

Felted Flowers

The weather is getting colder and I realized that the girls don’t have a lot of warm clothes.  So this morning I bought a simple sweater dress from Target, but wanted to give it something extra.  I cut up some wool felted sweaters and made flowers.  Has anyone noticed my penchant for red and blue?  I think I’m getting predictable.

A Couple of Acorn Projects

Glittery acorn garland made by brushing some glue on the bottom of the acorn and dipping in glitter.  I used that wonderful tiny glitter from Martha Stewart.  The three-year-old very much enjoyed helping with this project, as she adores all things sparkly.  This is sort of a fall to winter holiday decoration, but I suppose it will need to be tossed as the acorns start to rot?  We’ll see.

An acorn picture frame.  Or maybe with a ribbon it will be a rectangular wreath?  It’s just some acorn tops glued to a wooden frame.  I was inspired by a project from the lovely French magazine Marie Claire Idées, but they used a wider oval shaped frame which allowed several neat rows of acorn tops.

Handmade Toy of the Week

Ostheimer wooden figures.  These are the kind of toys that will become family heirlooms.  Handmade in Germany, they have a warm feel and invite imaginative play.  The Wooden Wagon offers a large selection of Ostheimer figures along with many other great handmade and natural toys.  The dragon pictured above is $35.65 and available here.
