Here’s a simple tutorial to make these temporary stencils from recycled cardboard. Any thin cardboard, like a cereal box, will work. Go experiment with some fabric!
Suggested Materials:
- Thin cardboard
- X-acto knife
- Self-healing cutting mat
- Tape
- Fabric paint
- Stencil or foam brush
1. Tape the cardboard to your self-healing cutting mat.
2. You can sketch a design before beginning, or just cut freehand. Using the X-acto knife, cut out your design.
3. Place the template onto your fabric and use perpendicular motions with the the stencil or foam brush to paint the design. Allow to dry and follow paint instructions for heat setting, if needed.
