Mayday

It’s a beautiful spring day here in Atlanta, but I’m struggling with all the negativity on social media. Twitter often reminds me of the original Ghostbusters movie when they realize that the slime is reacting to negative human emotions until it becomes an angry river flowing under the city. Sometimes we need to breathe and tune out for a bit so we don’t get slimed.

In my latest newsletter, I talk about staying grounded in middle age through mindful making. I’ve also included a tutorial for the fabric buckets pictured above, the perfect size for a small plant for spring or Mother’s Day.

Crafty Planner Podcast

Check out my conversation with Sandi Hazlewood on the Crafty Planner podcast! We talk about the lack of diversity in the fabric industry, how crafting can be feminist, and overcoming perfectionism. To be honest, I was anxious about the recording because I’m not sure how well I articulated my feelings, but I hope it will start a long overdue conversation and encourage others to support positive change.

You can read my latest newsletter for a more coherent argument in support of  representation in the industry. Also, be sure to support Sandi’s work!
