I love the style of this store. I used to be a city girl (NJ) and now live on a farm in Idaho. We just do not have stores like this around here. I have been wanting to knit a shrug out of the Morehouse Merino Lace. It would be wonderful to use the gift certificate to buy the yarn as a birthday gift for myself (Dec 20).
Oh wow! I love everything- particularly the Fibre comapny yarns and all those cute trims. Just delicious!
I thought the natural dyes and paints were very cool. Thanks for sharing this store!

I fell in love with the first thing I saw, which was the assortment of decorative trims. I had fun looking at all the fabrics, books, and other items available….a little of everything!
So hard to pick just a few. I’m bummed that I was just in NYC and didn’t know about this store! I’m torn between fabric or yarn. Perhaps some luscious wool to make a hat.
Their selection of ribbons is great! Thanks!
YARN. they have schaefer (love the anne and nicole yarns), malabrigo (i’m in love with worsted, silky, and sock), and elizabeth lavold (wool and silk–yes, plz).
i could go on and on and on. they have great yarn selections!
What an awesome and unique store! This is my first visit to your wonderful website and the Brooklyn General store. The yarn is gorgeous…the colors and choices are amazing. I also like the totes/bags.
Oh…. the beautiful fabric – that’s my favorite.
I love their vintage fabric!! It’s sooo awesome, I definitely want it!!
So many wonders! (It’s probably good they weren’t around when I lived in that neighborhood of Brooklyn….) I’m hoping to learn to sew from patterns and have some vintage Turkish fabrics, so I’m especially drooling over the Indochine hobo handbag patterns. Oh, the temptation.
Oh, my gosh, I could spend all $50 on their lovely ribbons and trims…chickens and birds and flowers and dots and… Nothing in my daughter’s wardrobe would be safe from me and my trims!
