Vintage Sheet Outfit

My four-year-old “designed” this outfit, telling me what she wanted and choosing the fabrics.  I drew it out for her and she made changes.  I tried to talk her into making the pants from a different fabric, but she wanted flowers.  I am kind of afraid of matching things, likely due to my fashion blunders in high school.  Anyway, this outfit made me think that I could make an entire summer wardrobe from one vintage sheet.  Depression-era sewing.  I winged it on the top, but used the pattern pieces from Burda 9843 (view D) for the pants.

  1. That’s adorable. I love that print (it’s hard to find really nice ones!), and I can totally see my daughter picking it out too, and insisting on flowery pants. Little girls, you gotta love ’em!

  2. I think my little girl would love those too. Everything with flowers. Everything with pink. On the other hand, she likes almost everything. Especially the things I make her. I’m enjoying that very much, as long as that lasts 😉

  3. I’m impressed. I like the print, too. Winging the top seems harder than winging the bottom but then again maybe not…..

  4. I love it! Your budding designer did a great job…and she’s lucky to have a mommy who can execute her concept so nicely.

  5. Absolutely adorable! I love the vintage sheets, but the fitted sheets won’t fit my mattress. 🙂
