My Folklore Dress

Made a little dress using some of this Lecien My Folklore fabric.  It’s a favorite of mine.  I’ve been loving all of the tuxedo style ruffles, so I used them here.  I didn’t work from a pattern, but modified a simple bodice shape to include the ruffles.  Hope the four-year-old will wear this one!

  1. Wow I really really love this! And here I am stressing about a simple dress pattern (since my sewing experience have been really limited to straight lines).

I am still trying to figure out how to sew armholes. :o(

  2. That is the sweetest dress I’ve ever seen. I really need to learn how to sew children’s clothing! I love this.

  3. this is adorable! i love that you didn’t use a pattern…i’m a free form gal myself since the patterns usually confuse me, lol!

  4. If the 4 year old doesnt want to wear it – I will! (Of course its not even going to fit on my arm – but I can dream!) Gorgeous fabric selection!

  5. Oh, Wow! That is one ADORABLE dress. I love how you’ve added to ruffles to the bodice.
Question: Is that ruffle thingy sewed on a one piece front bodice piece? (Would love to make one for my 3.5y todd).
    The fabric is, also, fantastic!

  6. I actually cut the bodice piece in half, deducted 1 1/2″ from each side and made the center piece separately (3″), sewed the ruffles and buttons onto this center piece, then sewed the completed ruffled center to either side of the bodice. I then lined the entire bodice front. Does this make sense?

  7. Hi, I’ve just discovered your site. I to have made a dress in the same fabric. I am putting it in a give away I would love it if you could check it out! Love your dress too!
