Tiny Quilting

Now that I’m finished with Quilt Market, it’s been so good to just get in my sewing room and make something.

This is what I worked on over the weekend and I think my work might be getting a lot smaller! This piece is 9″ x 9 1/2″. I have no idea what I’ll do with this — maybe just frame it. But I think I’m going to be making many more tiny textured quilts, as I really love the improvisational process and small-scale. And I love monochromatic white, but it’s very difficult to photograph.

  1. That is an amazing sample piece. It’s definitely frame worthy or maybe it would be a neat center block for a throw pillow.

  2. This is really beautiful. If you’re thinking of making more, perhaps save them all and make one larger piece? I bet visual the impact would be significant. (And I am sad I missed finding you at Market–I just wanted to say hello and thanks for all you share here.)

  3. I thought the same thing about the Louse Nevelson sculpture after I made it. Do you remember when they made stamps of one of her wooden pieces? I used those stamps on our wedding invitations.

  4. Hi Ellen!I
I met you at the Houston Quilt Market and was so inspired! I bought your sewing book and have been reading through it at night for fun and inspiration. I will definitely have my own booth at both Market and Festival next year and hope to see you there!
