Actual Fabric

It’s been a rough few days around here, but there was a brief bright spot over the weekend when some of my Quilt Blocks fabric arrived in the mail yesterday from Moda. These two prints will be the only prints available for Quilt Market and the rest will be shown on paper. But I’m looking forward to making some things. And these are definitely two of my favorite prints: Wedding Rings and Flying Geese. The Wedding Rings pattern is available in four color options. Now, what should I make? Really, I have no idea where to start.

  1. They look amazing Ellen! Glad these brought some brightness to your weekend. Good timing.

  2. Cute little reversible hostess or cafe apron – that’s where I’d start. Or something great for the table – the Flying Geese especially seem to be begging to be napkins or a runner on my table…

  3. Love the fabrics and can’t wait to see what you make with them!! It’s always a good day when fabric arrives in the mail!

  4. Congratulations! They look so fun to work with. I can’t wait to see what you make first. I like the apron and napkin/table runner ideas above.

  5. curtains…little twirly skirt for my daughter…and well framed would would instant artwork!

  6. They’re beautiful! I’m picturing it added to kitchen towels as trim. And then you could make the matching napkins that someone else suggested!

  7. i love your fabric and would love to cut some of it up into small blocks and sew it back together. The ferris wheel type pattern (i know it is not a ferris wheel but it made me think of one with little square colored seats) would be cute isolated as a dress or apron top. Have fun…. missed your friday finds.

  8. So cute and colorful! I think the wedding rings would be adorable as a round neck dress for a little girl like this one: http://freemotion-kate.blogspot.com/2008/09/great-dress-pattern.html since the neckline basically mimics the ring shape
The flying geese could be cool as a little boy’s button-up shirt, or maybe some funky shorts? (I could totally picture putting my 2 year old son in some flying geese shorts and a solid color or white polo next spring)
